Overview:
Formulating products in the field of cement, resinous and emulsion (dispersion) type chemistry. Lead a team of technicians in various developments and project work to develop high performance construction products used predominantly but not exclusively in ceramic tile and stone installation systems as well as flooring products.
Essential Job Functions &
Responsibilities:
1. Formulate products according to RLS requirements for the construction material market of Laticrete International.
2. Devising and conducting experiments to solve complex material problems
3. Working in multidisciplinary teams (in academia, across different functions of the business)
4. Responsible for documenting via labtrack, sharing and teaching of new science and technology to others
5. Processing, analyzing, and interpreting results and data
6. Communicating results within R&D, cross-functional departments and NPI meetings
7. Presenting ongoing work and findings to colleagues via summarizing the nature of the research and/or development, their methodology and results
8. Carrying out field work by attending field trials
9. Supervising different teams of technicians or interns
10. Contributing to a multifunctional team for scale up
11. Determine QC parameters for product testing
12. Document work continuously in labtrack data base and by the end of a development by summarizing all work in a report
13. Be familiar with the process of writing a patent and other publication within the industry
Job Specifications/Skills:
1. Strong background in formulating products in a research lab environment preferably within the construction material industry.
2. Proven experience in leading a technical team consisting of multiple technicians (supervisor experience).
3. Proven work exposure to Production/Operations, Product Management, QC, ISO, Analytical, Product Development, Finance, Accounting and Marketing departments.
4. Must have strong analytical ability, be well organized, detail oriented, and systematic in documenting results
5. Team Cooperation - Maintain cooperative, professional attitude with all LATICRETE employees and all customers.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to write reports and present results.
7. Must be able to analyze data independently and apply specialized knowledge, method and skills to solve problems.
8. Must be a self-starter and ability to multi-task.
9. Computer skills: Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook.
10. Bending and reaching to file. Infrequent ability to lift/move up to minimum of 50 pounds.
11. BS in a Science required; MS or Ph.D degree in a Science preferred or equivalent work experience in construction material or tile industry.
12. 20% domestic and internationally travel

1. Performs other directly related appropriate duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.
